Articling Recruitment Period

The articling recruitment dates have historically been set for June of each year by the Credentials and Education Committee of the Law Society of Alberta. LESA is now seeking input from its members regarding changing the 2015 articling recruitment period for Calgary and Edmonton.

This review is a long time coming as there has been much discussion over the past few years regarding moving the recruitment period to August to coincide with Vancouver and Toronto. Moving the recruitment period to August will provide additional time for firms and second year summer students before decisions are made on articling positions.

This year, the Credentials and Education Committee intends to establish the articling recruitment period at its November meeting. In order to make an informed decision, they are requesting recommendations from Calgary and Edmonton law firms.
